Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sunreported that Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett left the Ravens' facility without signing on the dotted line and is headed to Atlanta for another interview with the Falcons.

"One league source said Garrett could be uncertain whether he is ready to become a head coach after just three years of coaching in the NFL. Another source speculated that Garrett could be headed to Atlanta to drive up the Ravens' offer."

The speculation surrounding the Ravens' head coaching search is heating up, as ESPN.com's Ed Werder is reporting that NFL sources say Garrett is weighing his options between taking the reins in Baltimore or remaining with his current team.

"According to a Cowboys source, Dallas owner Jerry Jones has communicated to Garrett without knowing exactly what the Ravens' financial offer might be that he would match it if Garrett rejects the Ravens' offer."

Hensley writes that if Garrett does take the Ravens' job, a source told him that former Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron, whom Garrett coached under from 2005-06, would be brought on as offensive coordinator.

Hensley added: "There has been speculation that he could hire either Dom Capers or John Harbaugh as his defensive coordinator. Capers is the former Dolphins defensive coordinator, and Harbaugh is the Philadelphia Eagles' secondary coach."

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reported last night that Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett was in Baltimore last night and is slated to fly to Atlanta for a second interview with the Falcons for their head coaching position.

"It is not known if other candidates have been contacted about follow-up sessions in Baltimore, but many in the league believe that, with Garrett free to accept the job, the Ravens could move quickly to try to strike an agreement with him."

Local Baltimore sports radio station WNST posted this blog last night, which states that Garrett has his wife, Brill, in tow during his visit to Baltimore. Nestor Aparacio was the author of the blog, which said:

"It is NOT at all unusual for the candidate to bring his wife along for a final interview and potential signing. Brian Billick brought his wife Kim for his first visit, and dined at a downtown steak house."

Hensley cited two league sources this morning that said Garret had a second meeting with Ravens officials. That source also told Hensley that the Ravens are ready with a contingency plan if Garrett continues on to Atlanta.

"The source said the Ravens are ready to interview another candidate, most likely Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh, if it doesn't work out with Garrett."

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times thinks that Garrett could play the Ravens and the Falcons against each other in negotiations.

"Garrett, who directed a traditionally high-scoring offense that skidded to a halt in the Cowboys' 21-17 NFC divisional playoff loss Sunday to the New York Giants, is also reportedly being sought for a second interview with the Atlanta Falcons. Garrett's agent, David Dunn, could attempt to use the possibility of also interviewing with the Falcons as leverage."

Matt Mosley, an NFL blogger with ESPN.com, has a source from the league that thinks highly of Garrett. Here's what the source told Mosley's Hashmarks blog about Garrett:

"He's a great communicator and we think he'd be able to work with a young quarterback. He could be anything he wants to be. You get the feeling he could be the President of the United States. He just has something about him that people gravitate to. I think he can be a great head coach."

＜ジョン・ディア・クラシック　最終日◇15日◇TPCディアラン(7,257ヤード・パー71＞

　イリノイ州にあるTPCディアランで開催された、米国男子ツアー「ジョン・ディア・クラシック」の最終日。この日6つスコアを伸ばすチャージを見せたザック・ジョンソン(米国)がトロイ・マッテソン(米国)と並んでトータル20アンダーでホールアウト。勝負はプレーオフに持ち込まれた。

　ジョンソンは18番で行われたプレーオフ1ホール目でティショットをミスしてダブルボギーを叩くも、マッテソンもジョンソンに付き合ってしまいダブルボギーで引き分け。なんとか生き残ると続く2ホール目でジョンソンがバーディを奪い、今季2勝目を決めた。

　大会4連覇を狙ったスティーブ・ストリッカー(米国)は最終日はスコアを1つ伸ばすに留まり、トータル16アンダーの5位タイで4日間を終えた。

＜ヤマハレディースオープン葛城　2日目◇31日◇葛城ゴルフ倶楽部(6,587ヤード・パー72)＞

　静岡県にある葛城ゴルフ倶楽部で開催されている、「ヤマハレディースオープン葛城」の2日目は、朝から降り続いた雨の影響でコースコンディションが悪化し9時23分に競技が一時中断された。静岡県にはさらに雨雲が近づいており、再開は13時以降となる。

＜TOSHIN GOLF TOURNAMENT IN 涼仙　事前情報◇5日◇涼仙ゴルフ倶楽部(7,169ヤード・パー72)＞

　国内男子ツアー「TOSHIN GOLF TOURNAMENT IN 涼仙」が6日(木)に三重県にある涼仙GCで開幕を迎える。

　コース入りした火曜は練習のみだった石川遼は、この日のプロアマで初のラウンド。火曜にはトーシンの石田社長が「優勝想定スコアは25アンダー」とバーディ合戦をぶち上げたが、石川は「社長が言うほどやさしくはないですよ」と苦笑い。「カットラインがアンダーにはなると思うけど、グリーンもマウンドがあるし、距離もあって素晴らしいコース」と印象を語った。

初出場の遼はJ・チョイらと同組、元プロ野球選手の桑田、立浪も参戦！

　それでも、この日は7アンダーの“65”をマークし、「チェックポイントに集中して、明日も今日と同じようなプレーが出来ればいいですね」と手ごたえを得た。「トリッキーなコースが多い」というINでは1アンダーだったが、OUTでは9番のイーグルを含む6アンダーと好スコア。OUTスタートの初日は、前半の9ホールで勢いをつけていきたいところだ。

　2週連続の予選落ちとなった先週末は、走りこみや体幹強化などに重点を置いてトレーニングに汗を流した。「序盤はトレーニングをあまり出来なかったので、体幹が弱っていると感じました。バランスを崩しやすい軸がしっかりしないスイングになっていた」と、先週までの戦いをふまえてもう一度イチから体を作り直していく構え。「4日間優勝争いの中でも体力を維持したままプレーできるように」。悔しさにまみれた20歳がここから這い上がっていく。

　国内男子ツアー「TOSHIN GOLF TOURNAMENT IN 涼仙」が6日(木)に開幕。主催者推薦で今大会に出場する元プロ野球桑田真澄氏と立浪和義氏は、プロアマ終了後に2人で10番から9ホールの練習ラウンドを行った。

　下部ツアーのチャレンジトーナメントへの出場経験がある桑田氏は「明日はプロの勝負の世界を味わいながら、自分のベストを尽くしたい」とコメント。今大会がプロトーナメント初出場となる立浪氏は、「ドライバーが不安ですね」とこの日の練習ラウンドで苦しんだティショットに苦笑いを浮かべながらも「70台を目標に頑張りたい」と意気込みを新たにした。

　PL学園時代の先輩後輩にあたる2人はプライベートでも年に2度ほどラウンドを共にする仲。ベストスコアは共に“70”で、桑田氏は週に1度のラウンド、立浪氏は今年すでに120回のラウンドをこなすなどゴルフに熱心に取り組んでいる。プロとの技術の差は現状では埋めようもないが、「最後まであきらめないことを大事にしてきましたし、それがスポーツマンだと思う」と全力プレーを誓っていた。

　桑田氏は野上貴夫、H・W・リュー(韓国)と同組で13時ちょうどに10番スタート、立浪氏は高山準平、上田諭尉と同組で12時40分に1番ティスタートとなっている。
